Safety Officer - House Raising and Restumping
Raise My House has led the house raising and restumping industry in South East Queensland for more than 15 years. We now raise more than 180 houses each year and have a team of 50 people. We firmly believe that safety is built into how jobs are planned and delivered.
We are looking for a practical Safety Officer who can build strong relationships on site, operate our existing safety processes reliably and help us keep improving how work is planned and delivered.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Project Manager, foremen, crews and administrative support. You will be based at our Albion office and regularly spend time at sites, most of which are within approximately 10 km of Brisbane CBD.
A practical understanding of house raising and restumping is a plus but not essential, provided you are willing to learn.
What you will do
- Be visible on site, engage directly with raise and restump crews and develop a practical understanding of how the work is performed.
- Conduct site inspections and review SWMS, JSAs and high‑risk work controls.
- Monitor key safety submissions, training and acknowledgements; follow up training gaps and report on participation, outstanding actions and recurring issues.
- Support incident investigations and ensure resulting actions, toolbox talks, training and procedure updates are completed.
- Maintain active safety records, forms, links, QR codes and controlled documents.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to existing safety processes.
- Work with operational leaders to identify safety risks associated with resourcing, task sequencing,
site congestion and overlapping activities.
What you will bring
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or a higher relevant qualification.
- Construction White Card.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Demonstrated WHS experience in construction, trade or other high‑risk operational environments.
- Working knowledge of Queensland WHS requirements and site‑based risk controls.
- Experience reviewing SWMS and JSAs and following safety actions through to completion.
- The confidence to speak directly with crews and leaders and positively influence safe operations and culture.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with operational and administrative teams.
- Confidence using digital systems and a willingness to learn approved AI‑supported processes. AI expertise is not required.
What we offer
- Company vehicle and fuel card.
- Full‑time, long‑term work in a secure and busy industry.
- Albion‑based office near the train station, sites located within approximately 10 km of Brisbane CBD.
- Occasional work‑from‑home flexibility where operationally appropriate.
- Direct access to the business owner who backs sound safety decisions.
- The chance to continue shaping safety systems, processes, and how safety is embedded in what we do.
This role suits someone who wants real influence rather than a compliance‑only position. You understand construction pressures, know when to hold the line and can work with people to find practical, safer ways to get the job done.
Applicants must have current Australian work rights.
