Senior Practitioner Social Worker – Duty and Assessment Team
Location: Tamworth
Pay Rate: £38.00 – £40.00 per hour
Contract: Locum | Full-Time

Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Practitioner Social Worker to join a dedicated Duty and Assessment Team in Tamworth . This rewarding locum Social Worker opportunity offers an excellent hourly rate of £38.00 – £40.00 per hour and the chance to make a real difference by supporting children, young people, and families through effective assessment, intervention, and safeguarding practice.

This role is suited to an experienced Children’s Social Worker with robust expertise in Duty and Assessment , Child Protection , and Safeguarding . As a Senior Practitioner, you will manage complex cases, complete statutory assessments, and provide guidance and support to colleagues to ensure high-quality social work practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage a complex caseload within a busy Duty and Assessment Team , responding to referrals and safeguarding concerns.
- Complete timely and comprehensive assessments, including Child and Family Assessments , Section 17 Child in Need assessments , and Section 47 Child Protection enquiries .
- Undertake risk assessments and make informed decisions to safeguard children and young people.




- Develop effective care plans and interventions that promote positive outcomes for children and families.
- Provide professional advice, support, and mentoring to social workers and colleagues within the service.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, family support services, and other partner agencies.
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions, and safeguarding processes.
- Prepare high-quality reports, assessments, and court documentation where required.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.
- Promote best practice and contribute to continuous improvement across Children’s Services.
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualified experience within Children’s Social Care .
- Previous experience within a Duty and Assessment Team , MASH , Child Protection , Safeguarding , or Children in Need service.
- Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation, statutory frameworks, and social work procedures.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage high-risk and complex cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
