Our client is one of Australia's leading medical research and public health organisations. They are committed to achieving better health for all through world-class research, education, and public health programs. Working across Australia and internationally, the organisation tackles some of the world's most important health challenges.
As the organisation continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced and strategic Internal Communications Manager to help strengthen employee engagement, foster organisational culture, and ensure employees are informed, connected, and inspired. This is an initial 6-month contract.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this role will work closely with senior leaders across the Institute.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organisations internal communications strategy and annual communications plan.
- Create high-quality communications for a variety of channels, including intranet, newsletters, CEO updates, town halls, leadership communications, videos, and presentations.
- Partner with executive leaders and subject matter experts to communicate strategic priorities, organisational change, and key initiatives.
- Lead communication planning and messaging for organisational projects and change programs.
- Manage and continually improve internal communication channels and employee engagement platforms.
- Identify and share stories that celebrate research, public health impact, partnerships, and people.
- Support senior leaders with speech writing, presentations, and key messages.
- Collaborate with Human Resources,
People & Culture, Marketing, and external communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organisational values.
Experience and skills required:
- Experience working in the health, medical research, higher education, government, or not-for-profit sectors is desirable.
- 5+ years' experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or employee engagement.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience developing and implementing communication strategies for complex organisations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to advise senior leaders.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience using digital communication platforms, intranet systems, and email marketing tools.
