Sunstate Civil Construction is seeking a skilled and experienced Final Trim Excavator and Earthmoving Plant Operator to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis . Based in Logan Reserve, QLD 4133 , this role is pivotal to our operations of road upgrade projects, ensuring precise earthmoving work and site preparation to the highest standards. You will operate sophisticated machinery to complete final trim operations on construction projects, requiring precision, attention to detail, and technical expertise. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to significant construction projects whilst working with modern equipment and a professional team.

Key responsibilities

Operate excavators and earthmoving plant with precision to execute final trim operations on construction sites

Proven experience on roadworks projects

Conduct pre-shift safety inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on all assigned machinery

Follow site-specific instructions and engineering requirements to achieve accurate grading and finishing standards

Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers and other team members to ensure project specifications are met

Maintain accurate records of plant operation, hours worked and any machinery defects or issues

Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols

Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe working conditions to site management immediately

Assist with site cleanup and equipment repositioning as required

Support other team members and contribute to a collaborative and safe working environment

What we're looking for





Current Heavy Equipment Operator License or equivalent certification recognised in Queensland

Minimum 5 years' experience operating excavators and earthmoving plant on construction sites

Demonstrated expertise in final trim operations and precision grading work

Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and WorkSafe procedures

Valid White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one

Ability to read and interpret site plans, engineering drawings and specifications

Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination

Proven track record of operating plant efficiently whilst maintaining high safety standards

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

Reliability and punctuality with a positive attitude towards work

Experience with GPS-guided grading systems or similar technology is advantageous

Working knowledge of different soil types and ground conditions is preferred
