Leading Hands - Water Industry Maintenance and Construction
We are seeking skilled Leading Hands with relevant trade, general maintenance and labouring experience to join our team. We have positions available throughout South East QLD, however this is a mobile role with travel to and from site required.
Locations: Gold Coast | Brisbane | Sunshine Coast | Lockyer Valley | Toowoomba
About the role
This is a hands-on role where you will be directly involved in the physical construction work as well as supervising and supporting your team.
The role will servicing, maintaining and constructing infrastructure on Water Reservoirs where each week you will be in a new environment, with new challenges and opportunities.
In this role, you will be provided with a vehicle equipped with all necessary tooling for work purposes, and will be responsible for leading a team in a hands on environment to deliver capital renewal projects, and perform maintenance on existing water industry assets.

As a specialist contractor, we deliver renewal and maintenance works on large-scale infrastructure and water reservoirs across South-East Queensland. Our projects range from major Capital Projects, to Programmed Inspections and preventative maintenance on both potable and raw water assets.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a small team of construction workers to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard and on schedule;
- Perform hands-on construction work, including roofing, installation, and maintenance of water assets;
- Coordinate with the project managers or site foreman to ensure the team has the necessary materials,
equipment, and resources;
- Monitor worker productivity and provide guidance and support as needed;
- Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations;
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced team members.
What we’re looking for
- Experience or relevant experience as a leading hand or supervisor in the construction industry, or maintenance of assets, preferably within the water sector;
- Strong technical knowledge of construction techniques and materials, along with the ability to understand how to maintain these assets;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team;
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced workplace;
- Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and a commitment to ensuring compliance;
- A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
- Must have Confined Space and Working at Heights Qualifications or the ability to obtain these.
