**About the role The Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist - Home Hospital provides clinical leadership, governance and specialist medical care within the Home Hospital service, Community and Oral Health Directorate. Based primarily at North Lakes Health Precinct, the role supports the delivery of acute admitted care in the community through the Hospital in the Home (HITH), Virtual Ward and APACHE services, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and patient-centred care in their home environment.
The successful candidate will provide senior clinical oversight, patient assessment and management, multidisciplinary team leadership and medical supervision across Home Hospital services. The role also contributes to education, quality improvement, patient advocacy and service development initiatives that support the continued growth and success of innovative models of care across Metro North Health.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Provide senior clinical review, assessment and oversight for patients referred to APACHE, Hospital in the Home and Virtual Ward services.
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care while supporting clinical governance, patient safety and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Supervise, support and educate junior medical officers, medical students and multidisciplinary team members to foster capability and clinical excellence.
Work collaboratively with hospitals,
primary care providers and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate integrated and patient-centred models of care.
Contribute to service development, stakeholder engagement, research, education and advocacy activities that support the expansion and effectiveness of Home Hospital services.
