Our client is a leading Australian retailer and has recently had a position open for an experienced State Manager to lead and oversee its New South Wales operations.

This is a senior leadership role suited to an individual who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership across a multi-site environment.

The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, this position is responsible for the overall operational and commercial performance of multiple locations across NSW, including retail showrooms, commercial sales activity, and supporting warehouse operations. You will work closely with site leadership teams to drive consistency, improve performance outcomes, and ensure a high standard of customer experience across all areas of the business. A key focus will be on leadership capability, operational discipline, and sustainable sales growth.

Core Responsibilities

- Lead and support site management teams to deliver consistent operational standards and commercial outcomes
- Drive revenue growth and profitability through execution of state-wide initiatives
- Ensure high standards of store presentation, stock availability, and operational compliance




- Develop and coach site leaders to enhance performance, accountability, and team capability
- Oversee inventory management across retail and warehouse functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Monitor financial performance, including reporting, cost control, and promotional effectiveness
- Support workforce planning to align staffing structures with business requirements
- Manage escalated customer issues while reinforcing ownership at site level
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of site leaders and sales teams
- Maintain strong service standards and timely customer engagement across all channels
- Ensure effective communication and alignment across geographically dispersed sites
- Coordinate stock transfers and logistics between locations
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement best practices
- Contribute to broader commercial initiatives, including business development and key account opportunities

About You

Essential Experience & Capability:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a State, Regional, or District leadership role overseeing multiple sites
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing teams
- Strong commercial acumen within a retail or multi-site operational environment
- Solid understanding of stock management and warehouse-integrated retail operations
- Highly developed analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
- Demonstrated success in driving sales performance and customer experience outcomes

Desirable:

- Exposure to the fitness, health, or gym equipment industry
- Experience within large-format or bulky goods retail environments
