The location and Lifestyle:
Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the region.
About the Role
Reporting to the Supervisor - Operations,
the Operator – Rock Breaker is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of rock-breaking equipment to maintain production targets and minimise downtime. The successful applicant will monitor equipment performance, identify and rectify blockages, undertake routine inspections, and work closely with operations and maintenance personnel while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate rock-breaking equipment in accordance with site procedures.
Identify and clear blockages while maintaining efficient plant operation.
Conduct pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks.
Monitor equipment performance and report faults and defects.
Liaise with operations and maintenance personnel to minimise downtime.
Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment.
Key Selection Criteria:
Previous experience operating a rock breaker, excavator, loader or similar mobile equipment within a mining, quarrying or heavy industry workplace.
Current C Class driver's licence, with additional machinery tickets highly regarded.
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and compliance with site procedures.
Sound fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of work.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to undertake training and continuously develop skills and knowledge.
A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role.
