Workplace Health and Safety Professional

The Shire of Exmouth is looking for an experienced and motivated Work Health and Safety professional to join our Organisational Development team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be more than a safety practitioner. You'll play a key role in partnering with leaders across the organisation to build a proactive safety culture where people feel supported, accountable and empowered to work safely every day. You'll influence how safety is embedded into decision-making, strengthen leadership capability, and help create a workplace where everyone goes home protected.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Organisational Development, you will lead and support the continuous improvement of the Shire's Work Health and Safety Management System. Working collaboratively with leaders and teams, you'll provide practical advice, strengthen risk management practices, deliver critical risk programs, support incident investigations, develop policies and procedures, coordinate training, and drive continuous improvement across both operational and corporate environments.

This is a genuine partnering role where you'll build trusted relationships, coach leaders, influence positive behaviours, and contribute to broader organisational initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement and performance.

What we offer: This position is classified as a Level 7 - 9 under the Shire of Exmouth Industrial Agreement 2025 and comes with the following remuneration benefits:

Annual base salary range $82,221- $94,650 per annum

Up to 22% superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)

Location allowance of $2,002 per annum

Housing allowance of up to $15,600 per annum or subsidised shared housing

Regular RDOs

5 weeks annual leave

Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service (conditions apply), uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other well-being services
