About the role

Australian Certified Winches is seeking a Mechanical Engineer RPEQ to join our engineering team on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a professionally registered mechanical engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and development of winch systems and mechanical solutions. Based in Yatala, Queensland, this role offers the flexibility of part-time work whilst maintaining the technical rigour and professional standards expected in mechanical engineering. You will play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest safety and performance standards whilst supporting the strategic objectives of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

- Design, analyse and develop mechanical systems and components for winch products, utilising CAD software and engineering simulation tools

- Conduct detailed technical assessments and feasibility studies for new and modified mechanical designs

- Prepare comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation in compliance with relevant Australian standards and regulations

- Perform stress analysis, load calculations and material selection to ensure product integrity and safety

- Support the testing, validation and commissioning of mechanical systems and assemblies

- Liaise with manufacturing, quality assurance and project teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose and can be efficiently produced

- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineering staff where applicable

- Ensure all work complies with relevant standards,



codes of practice and professional engineering requirements

What we're looking for

- Current RPEQ registration (Registered Professional Engineer Queensland) or equivalent professional engineering qualification

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

- Minimum 5 years' post-graduation experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within manufacturing, mechanical systems or product design

- Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) and engineering analysis tools

- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science and engineering calculations

- Familiarity with Australian Standards, particularly those relevant to mechanical equipment and safety

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

- Experience in the winching, lifting or heavy equipment industry is highly desirable

- Project management experience and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
