The Role:
As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for
- Assessing and underwriting new business and renewal submissions across Liability, Professional Indemnity and Management Liability lines, in accordance with Pen Underwriting guidelines.
- Evaluating risks by reviewing broker submissions, insureds' operations, risk controls, financial position, and relevant policies, procedures and certifications.
- Applying underwriting expertise to risk assessment, claims history analysis, pricing and coverage decisions across new and existing Liability accounts.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers to drive new business opportunities and maximise renewal retention.
- Support efficiencies and process improvements in the team
- Collaborating with underwriters across other product lines to strengthen broker relationships and identify growth opportunities.
What You’ll bring:
To succeed in this role, you'll bring a positive, proactive attitude along with:
- At least 2 years' underwriting experience, preferably in Liability, Financial Lines or Management Liability.
- Strong time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents and clients.
- Sound risk assessment skills and the ability to make underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
- A good understanding of Australian insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
