Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools.
We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
Aboriginal Education Officers provide assistance to teachers, Aboriginal students and their families to support improved learning, welfare and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal students.
Essential Requirements
Working with Children Check Clearance
First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training
Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education and Training policy.
Specific Selection Criteria
Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal students.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and cultures.
Ability to interact with Aboriginal students and parents.
Experience working as part of a team.
Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community.
Conditions
This position is designated for the employment of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
