XS Espresso is a place to get a morning coffee fix, breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as dessert to satisfy all customer cravings.

The Role:
XS Espresso is seeking a Chef to oversee the efficient operation of the kitchen and assist in the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality meals.
The Chef will ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with XS Espresso's standards while maintaining consistency, quality and compliance with food safety requirements.
The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing menu items, assisting with seasonal menu development and specials, selecting quality ingredients, supervising food preparation and ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen.
All work will be conducted in a fully functioning, clean and organised kitchen.
Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques, ingredients, food safety requirements and kitchen operations.
Strong communication, organisational and time management skills are essential, together with the ability to work collaboratively with management and kitchen staff to deliver a high standard of food and customer satisfaction.
Duties:
•Prepare, cook and present menu items in accordance with XS Espresso's recipes, quality standards and customer requirements.
•Assist in planning menus and developing seasonal specials, taking into account customer demand,
ingredient availability and current food trends.
•Select, inspect and prepare quality ingredients to ensure consistency and high standards of food quality.
•Supervise and coordinate kitchen operations to ensure the timely preparation and service of meals.
•Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain quality, portion control and consistency.
•Estimate food requirements, place stock orders, monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stocktakes to minimise waste and ensure adequate supplies.
•Ensure all food handling, storage and preparation complies with food safety legislation, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
•Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained and used safely.
•Assist in training, supervising and supporting kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and compliance with company standards.
•Work efficiently during busy service periods, including weekends, public holidays and large functions, while maintaining a high standard of food quality.
•Liaise with management regarding menu planning, stock requirements,
customer feedback and operational improvements.
•Assist in controlling food costs and minimising wastage while maintaining the quality and presentation of all dishes.
•Ensure all kitchen operations comply with company policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements.
•Perform other duties reasonably required to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen.
Qualifications and Requirements
•A relevant Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field is required.
In lieu of a formal qualification, at least three (3) years of relevant full time work experience as a Chef in a similar establishment will be accepted.
•A minimum of three (3) years' experience working as a Chef in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
•Demonstrated experience in planning menus and developing new dishes and seasonal menu items.
•Ability to estimate food and labour costs, order supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
•Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, presentation and quality control.
•Proven ability to supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff and contribute to the efficient operation of the kitchen.
•Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety requirements, with the ability to ensure compliance at all times.
