The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is looking for motivated systems professionals to join the Cyber Security Branch, with opportunities available at two classification levels: Parliamentary Services Level 5 System Administrator and Parliamentary Executive Level 6 Systems Operations Administrator.

The Information Services Division (ISD) delivers ICT services across Parliament House and associated parliamentary environments, with the Network Security Operations section responsible for supporting the systems and infrastructure services that enable people, applications and critical parliamentary functions.
In these roles, you will work across a broad enterprise systems environment, supporting services such as server platforms, operating systems, virtualisation, Azure Local HCI, Azure Cloud, VMware vCenter, system monitoring, patching, upgrades, access administration, backups, restores and operational support activities.
You will join a collaborative technical team that works closely with engineers, operations teams, project teams, vendors and service providers to solve problems, improve services and support the technology that enables the work of the Parliament.
As a System Administrator, you will build and apply your systems operations capability by supporting monitoring, troubleshooting, incident and service request resolution, routine system changes, installation and configuration activities, documentation and customer-focused support.
As a Systems Operations Administrator, you will take on more complex technical work, coordinate system changes, support system refresh and transition activities, help resolve challenging incidents, improve operational practices and share your knowledge with others in the team.

System Administrator PSL 5 role:
This role is ideal for someone who has a solid foundation in systems administration and wants to continue developing in a secure, enterprise-scale ICT environment.
You will be supported to apply your technical skills, follow established procedures, help resolve incidents and service requests, contribute to routine system changes and maintain transparent operational documentation.
Support system monitoring, incident investigation and service request resolution.
Assist with server, operating system, virtualisation, cloud and infrastructure administration activities.
Contribute to approved standard and routine system changes, including patching, upgrades and configuration tasks.
Maintain accurate records, documentation, guides and operational notes.
Work collaboratively with the Parliamentary ICT service desk, senior systems officers, engineers and other stakeholders.
Systems Operations Administrator PSL 6 role:
This role is suited to someone with deeper systems operations experience who is ready to take on more complex work and help shape better operational outcomes.
You will use your technical judgement to resolve system issues, coordinate changes, support project delivery, improve procedures and provide practical guidance to other team members.
Investigate and resolve more complex system incidents and service requests.
Plan, coordinate and implement approved system changes.
Support the effective operation and security of Parliamentary ICT systems and infrastructure technologies.
Contribute to system-related projects, refresh activities and operational transition work.
Support installation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of system hardware, software, virtualisation and cloud platforms.
Contribute to system standards, documentation,



procedures and continuous improvement.

Eligibility
The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications in Information Technology, systems administration, cyber security or a related computing field are desirable.
Experience in an enterprise systems environment would be highly regarded, including exposure to server administration, operating systems, virtualisation platforms, Azure Local HCI, Azure Cloud, VMware vCenter, system monitoring, incident management, problem management, change management, installation, configuration, testing, patching, upgrades, backups, restores and troubleshooting.
Awareness of government ICT security frameworks, including the Information Security Manual, Essential Eight and Protective Security Policy Framework, would be highly regarded.
The roles may require participation in an on-call ICT support roster and occasional out-of-hours work to support operational requirements, project activities and parliamentary sitting periods.
