Sports & Recreation Construction
Leading Hand
Love working outdoors and taking pride in what you build?
Hardy Group NT installs playgrounds, sports courts, rubber softfall, shade structures, and recreational spaces across Darwin and the Northern Territory.
We're looking for a reliable, hands-on person who takes ownership on site, works hard, and wants to grow with a small, respected local business.
The Role
This is a hands-on role involving:
Installation of playground equipment, rubber softfall, sports surfacing, and shade structures
Carpentry, concreting, earthworks, and general construction tasks
Site preparation and machine operation
Working to Australian Standards and manufacturer specifications
Keeping projects moving safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
Assisting with coordination of daily site activities
As you grow into the role, you'll have the opportunity to take more responsibility for running sites, coordinating small crews, and supporting the Project Manager.
Projects are based across Darwin and remote NT locations, so some travel is required.
About Us
Hardy Group NT is a family-owned business specialising in playground installation, rubber softfall surfacing, sports surfacing, and shade structures across the Northern Territory.
For more than 15 years, we've delivered high-quality outdoor spaces for schools, councils, parks, and communities.
We take pride in building safe, durable spaces that are made to last in Top End conditions.
We're a small team that values hard work, quality workmanship, reliability, and people who take responsibility for what they do.
What We're Looking For

We're a small team, so attitude matters just as much as experience.
We want someone who takes ownership, works hard, and can think for themselves on site.
If you see something that needs doing, you do it — we're not looking for people who need to be told every step.
You don't need years of playground experience, but you do need:
A strong work ethic
Common sense
Initiative
Reliability
Pride in your work
Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in Top End conditions
We value people who:
Turn up consistently
Solve problems instead of creating them
Keep work moving
Lead by example
Care about quality and safety
Work well in a small team
Experience in construction, landscaping, concreting, civil works, carpentry, playground installation, or similar industries is highly regarded.
Essential Requirements
Current Australian Driver's Licence
White Card / Construction Induction Card
Right to work in Australia
Highly Regarded
Experience leading small crews and/or coordinating work on site
Machinery tickets, such as excavator or skid steer
Working With Children Ochre Card
Carpentry or trade background
Career Opportunity
Good people get noticed quickly here.
If you show initiative, take responsibility, and consistently deliver quality work, you'll have the prospect to step into a Leading Hand or Site Supervisor role as the business grows.
In the medium-long term a Project Manager position will become available.
We're looking for someone who wants to become a key part of the team long-term — not just another labourer.
