Job Purpose
The Technical Sales Consultant's primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership to sales account managers throughout the complete sales cycle.
The pre‐sales activities include:
Developing opportunities working with sales (including partners) & marketing
Attending internal/external meetings and providing ideas and opinions to achieve the best solution for the customer
Providing technical presentations and demos
Providing architecture, Software Bill of Materials, and/or technical write‐ups for proposal work
Working with the Services team to establish scope of work and estimates
Providing product or solution training to internal teams and external customers
Description
This role works closely with Marketing, Sales, Delivery, Customer Support, Business Units, and R&D; to identify, develop, and maintain the best software solutions that help customers meet their business requirements in a competitive workplace.
The role requires continual learning about new technology, industry trends, and competitor information to articulate AVEVA's unique value proposition to target customers.
Focus areas include AVEVA's suite of Monitoring and Control products: Wonderware System Platform, Citect, InTouch, Wonderware Historian, and OI Servers (PLC communications), Automation systems and reporting systems.
Principal Accountabilities
Creating and maintaining customer presentations and demos with clear value propositions.
Developing and maintaining sales opportunities in Salesforce, working closely with marketing and sales.
Capturing sales support, marketing event support, proposal support, and studies in Salesforce.
Learning and development to up‐skill core skill sets and expand solution knowledge.
Important Working Relationships
As part of a global organization with a regional focus, you will leverage the expertise of the technical sales community worldwide and apply it to your local region.
You will interact with distributors and system integrators, assisting them with solutions and updating them on product enhancements.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
Tertiary qualifications in engineering/IT with experience in MES systems in the manufacturing space, operations management, IT, and a keen interest in automation.
Strong ability to build long‐term, customer‐focused relationships; relevant sales experience is highly advantageous.
Understanding of Cloud/SaaS and latest technologies.
Commercial acumen enabling the TSC to propose optimal architectures to meet customer business needs.
Ability to communicate differentiating elements simply and convincingly.
Technical engineering or application design/validation background and detailed understanding of relevant offers.
Willingness to travel to customer locations as required (approximately 45% travel).
Effective communication at all levels, especially C‐level.
Good understanding of AVEVA's main markets: CPG, MMM, WWW, Power, O&G;, Infrastructure, Marine.
Ability to operate effectively as a member of a dynamic team within a matrixed organization, often across countries and time zones.
Excellent written and spoken English; Asian language skills are a premium.
Commitment to self‐study related to industry, software, and supporting technologies.
