We are seeking a skilled and safety focused CHPP Operator Maintainer with a recognised electrical trade qualification to join our team at Blair Athol Coal Mine.
This is a hands on operational and maintenance role responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant and Bypass processing areas.
Working as part of an experienced site team, you will operate and monitor plant equipment, complete inspections, respond to breakdowns and undertake planned maintenance activities.
Your electrical trade capability will be particularly valuable in supporting plant reliability, fault finding and continuous improvement across the operation.
The position operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off rotating day and night shift roster and is suited to an electrical tradesperson who enjoys combining operational responsibilities with practical maintenance work.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CHPP Crew Coordinator, you will support the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the CHPP in line with production schedules, quality requirements and site standards.
You will monitor plant performance, identify developing equipment issues and take appropriate action to minimise downtime and maintain production.
You will also complete planned and breakdown maintenance, operational inspections and plant housekeeping activities.




This role provides an opportunity for an electrically qualified tradesperson to broaden their plant operating experience while continuing to apply their technical maintenance capability in a production focused mining environment.
You will work closely with CHPP operators, maintainers, supervisors and other site departments to ensure plant risks are controlled, maintenance priorities are understood and production requirements are safely achieved.
Responsibilities of the Role
Operate and monitor the CHPP and associated processing equipment to support protected, efficient production and product quality.
Complete CHPP roving duties, plant inspections and operational checks to monitor equipment condition and plant performance.
Identify developing faults, hazards and operational issues and take appropriate action within your level of authority.
Undertake electrical fault finding, repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with your qualifications, competencies and site requirements.
Respond to plant breakdowns and complete repairs to safely restore equipment to service and minimise production delays.
Complete planned maintenance, servicing and inspection activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and work instructions.
Assist with the maintenance of CHPP equipment during scheduled shutdowns and planned maintenance periods.
Operate CHPP auxiliary equipment as required and where trained and authorised.
Monitor plant performance and make operational adjustments as directed by the CHPP Crew Coordinator.
Accurately record operating information, equipment defects, maintenance activities and shift handover details.
Identify, report and control hazards in accordance with the site Safety and Health Management System.
Comply with all health, safety, environmental, isolation and operational procedures.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the CHPP and associated work areas.
Work collaboratively with operators, maintainers, supervisors and contractors to support safe production and plant reliability.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to electrical reliability, equipment performance, maintenance practices and operational efficiency.
About You
You are a practical and safety focused electrical tradesperson who enjoys working in a hands on processing plant environment.
You are comfortable operating equipment, completing maintenance activities and responding to changing production priorities.
You take ownership of your work,



communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a crew.
You can identify equipment issues, apply sound judgement and contribute to practical solutions that support safe and reliable plant performance.
You will bring:
A recognised electrical trade qualification.
A current Queensland electrical work licence, or the ability to obtain the required Queensland licence.
Experience undertaking electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs in an industrial, mining or processing plant environment.
Previous experience operating or maintaining coal handling, mineral processing or fixed plant equipment, which will be highly regarded.
A sound understanding of electrical isolation, testing, risk management and safe work practices.
A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary operations and maintenance team.
A proactive approach and the ability to identify and respond to plant and equipment issues.
Sound judgement, decision making and problem solving capability.
Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to complete accurate shift and maintenance records.
The flexibility and willingness to work a 24 hour rotating day and night shift roster.
Instrumentation, control systems or PLC fault finding experience, which will be highly regarded.
A current driver's licence.
