This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of renewable energy, supporting the development, modelling and integration of advanced electrical systems for a major pumped hydro project.
About the Role
As a Development Engineer, Electrical System Simulation, you will be responsible for developing and analysing electrical system models, performing dynamic simulations, and supporting grid connection activities in accordance with Australian energy market requirements.
Working within a multidisciplinary international engineering team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of technical studies, simulation models and compliance requirements for a world class renewable energy asset.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, model and simulate electrical systems for hydropower generation assets using PSCAD and/or PSS®E.
• Perform dynamic simulations, transient studies and technical assessments to validate system performance.
• Support grid connection studies and compliance activities in line with the National Electricity Rules (NER) and Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across Australia and internationally to integrate simulation outcomes into project design and delivery.
• Support engagement with network service providers, consultants,



regulators and project stakeholders.
About You
You are an Electrical Engineer with experience in power systems modelling, simulation and grid connection studies.
You will ideally have experience working within renewable energy, generation, transmission or consulting environments.
You will bring:
• A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD qualification in
Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Engineering
or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in power system simulation, ideally across renewable generation, hydropower, thermal generation or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience using
PSCAD
and/or
PSS®E
for dynamic and transient simulations.
• Understanding of Australian grid connection requirements including NER, AEMO processes and generator performance standards.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and international project environments.
Desirable Experience
• Previous involvement in grid connection studies for large scale generation projects.
• Experience with PowerFactory, SSAT or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Knowledge of hydropower plant operation, generator controls and renewable energy integration.
