About the role
Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking an Advanced Clinical Coder to work within our Clinical Coding Service.
This position is open to being employed on a casual, part-time or full time basis.
Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope's Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater's commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.
Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport.
This facility was established in **** and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.
Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour
plus superannuation
and

What you'll be doing
Accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements
Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards
Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and the impact on potential funding
Identification of unclear or ambiguous documentation and subsequent initiation of coding queries
Participate in coding audit, quality and education to expand coding skills
Apply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security with the medical workplace
About you




You will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent).
You will also have:
Minimum five years experience working as a Clinical Coder
Up to date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
Experience using 3M Codefinder
Strong organisation skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment
Understanding of private sector funding models (Desirable)
Experience using WebPAS, iPM, and scanned medical records (Desirable)
