Community Engagement Services
Division
is an integrated team of employees and volunteers dedicated to supporting the profile, awareness, and 'good works' of the St Vincent de Paul Society encompassing a range of professional services, including; policy development and implementation, procedural development, service evaluation, spirituality development, member formation, member skills training, administration, social justice advocacy and service provision.

About the Role
As a
Financial Counsellor
, you will act as a primary resource to those requiring support in times of financial uncertainty.
Financial Counsellors assess, explore and provide options relating to financial debt issues to W.A. residents who make contact with the
National Debt Helpline
phone and chat service.
They provide key information and resources in addition to facilitating emergency relief, advocating and negotiating effectively for clients to improve and impact sustainable financial outcomes.
Maximum term Part-time, 0.6FTE (ending 30 June ****)
Canning Vale location
Delivery of effective and empathetic telephone financial counselling services to those in financial difficulty
1:1 client support, including the provision of information advocacy, referrals to other appropriate services, education and as required, emergency financial relief
Assessment of the financial situation of clients to identify immediate remedies and longer-term solutions to improve a client's financial wellbeing
Case management administration including accurate and timely data entry
Ensures sound budgeting guidance is delivered,



supporting future financial stability for those facing short term or long-term financial hardships
About You
As a energetic, results-oriented
Financial Counsellor
with extensive experience in fast-paced environments, you demonstrate robust communication, effective multitasking, and exceptional time management skills.
You are adaptable, maintain a positive attitude, and are committed to meeting deadlines independently.
With transferable IT skills in database management, operating systems, and analytical thinking, you have a proven ability to enhance operational efficiency and contribute to team success.
Furthermore, you will have:
Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling)
Membership with FCAWA (Financial Counselling of Western Australia)
Understanding of financial counselling, the finance industry and an awareness of consumer's rights and responsibilities including the ability to keep informed of industry knowledge
Sound awareness of the issues encountered by persons suffering financial hardship and crisis
Demonstrated ability to develop and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders and proven ability to work sensitively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
