School Counsellor – 0.4 FTE (Bombala Public School)
School counsellors are a vital part of the School Counselling Service, providing counselling and psychological assessment to support teachers, strengthen student learning and wellbeing, and aid families in managing their children's learning and mental health needs.
Based at Bombala Public School, the successful candidate will work across the lifespan with primary and high‐school students, engaging a diverse community of learners and collaborating with teachers, school communities, outside agencies, and district counsellors.
The role offers opportunities for professional supervision, group and peer supervision, and continuing professional development, including support to maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Location
Bombala, NSW – a co‐educational school of about 110 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Remuneration
Remuneration package valued at up to $182,******.
Base salary ranges from $101,****** to $160,******, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation.
Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience.
Responsibilities
Provide counselling and psychological assessment to students, including case formulation and report writing.
Collaborate with teachers, school communities, and outside agencies to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.
Participate in professional supervision, peer supervision, and district team meetings.
Engage in ongoing professional development and support for board registration.
Qualifications & Conditions
Experience in counselling using evidence‐based interventions for children and young people.
Experience in psychological assessment and reporting.
Demonstrated collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance learning and wellbeing, including students from diverse backgrounds.
Unconditional full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education.
Registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Willingness to travel between worksites.
