Lead Optical Network Data Management Specialist
Contract duration – 12-month contract with potential extension
Location of work – ACT
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and support network, server, and associated ICT infrastructure within data centre environments.
Undertake fibre optic and copper cabling installation, termination, testing, and rack preparation activities.
Support the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise network infrastructure.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex networking and infrastructure issues.
Monitor and optimise network performance to ensure service reliability and availability.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, build guides, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project teams, and external vendors to deliver infrastructure outcomes.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with organisational policies, standards, and safety requirements.
Key Skills
Minimum 5 years' experience engineering, operating, and supporting Ciena optical transport networks, including DWDM-based Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) solutions.
Solid knowledge of optical network architecture, design, implementation, provisioning, testing, optimisation, and operational support.
Demonstrated experience deploying and managing optical transport infrastructure within enterprise and data centre environments.
Experience with fibre connectivity, carrier services, and end-to-end network service commissioning.




Proven ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, including:
High-Level Designs (HLD)
Low-Level Designs (LLD)
Build and implementation guides
Operational procedures
Hands‐on experience with data centre operations, including rack installation, structured cabling, and hardware lifecycle management.
Experience working within large-scale enterprise or government environments.
Familiarity with telecommunications carriers, circuit delivery, provisioning activities, and fault management.
Qualifications & Certifications
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Desirable certifications include:
Ciena Certified Network Associate/Professional
Cisco CCNA or CCNP
Optical Networking, DWDM, or OTN certifications
Structured Cabling and Fibre Optic certifications
