Position Overview Café Chérie is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing food preparation and cooking operations, maintaining high culinary standards, and supporting menu development in line with the business's French-inspired concept.
This role requires a reliable, skilled professional who can work independently and collaboratively in a quick-paced hospitality environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Chef will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: Preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant's menu and standards Ensuring all meals are consistently prepared to a high standard with excellent presentation Collaborating with the owner to develop new menu items and seasonal recipes Preparing and managing daily prep lists for kitchen staff to ensure efficient service Monitoring food quality during preparation, cooking, and service Managing food stock levels, ordering supplies,
and conducting stocktakes Controlling food costs, minimising waste, and ensuring cost-effective kitchen operations Maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting any maintenance or repair requirements Ensuring compliance with food safety, health, and hygiene regulations at all times Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment Assisting with training and supervising kitchen staff when required Required Skills and Experience Proven experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment (a minimum of three years) Ability to prepare and cook food efficiently in a high-volume and fast-paced setting Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations Excellent attention to detail and plate presentation Passion for fresh, homemade, and high-quality food Robust time management and organisational skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene standards Salary and Conditions Annual salary of AUD $80,000 plus 12% superannuation Full-time, ongoing position Opportunity to work in a stable, family-owned business with a strong focus on quality and consistency How to Apply Applicants are invited to submit a resume and a brief cover letter outlining their relevant skills and experience and why they are suitable for the position.
