About the role
Are you an experienced legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact in local government?
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Officer to join our team in a permanent part-time capacity (45 hours per fortnight).
This role reports to the General Counsel.
The role provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to provide high level legal services to the Executive, Managers and Co-ordinators and organisation-wide through assisting with legal advice, the preparation of legal documents, performing research-based functions and the development of legal knowledge banks.
The position will be responsible for communicating with important internal and external stakeholders and managing legal risks.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;
Provide legal advice to the CEO, Executive, Managers and Officers on all range of matters and draft legal documents.
Assist the General Counsel to deliver a responsive service to Officers to address complex legal and compliance issues as they arise.
Representing the City in various Courts and Tribunals or instructing external counsel as appropriate.
About you
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in law
Admitted to practice law in Western Australia
Maintain a current practicing certificate from the Legal Practice Board
A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary for this position will be from $115,****** to $131,****** per annum pro rata, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
