About the role
EIR South Australia is seeking an
Experienced Civil Operator
to join our team.
This position is based in the surrounding suburbs of
Adelaide, SA
and offers the flexibility of casual work whilst contributing to significant civil construction projects.
As an Experienced Civil Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a range of plant and machinery on construction sites, playing a crucial role in the successful delivery of our projects.
Experienced Civil Labourers and Pipe Layers are also encouraged to apply.
Possibilities for DIDO / FIFO available.
Key responsibilities
Safely and competently operate a variety of civil construction plant and machinery including excavators, skid steers, loaders, rollers, articulated dump trucks, water carts or other earthmoving machinery
Conduct pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on assigned equipment to ensure safe working conditions
Follow all site safety protocols, regulations and work instructions, including adherence to health and safety standards
Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers and other team members to coordinate work activities
Operate machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications and site requirements
Monitor fuel, hydraulic levels and general equipment performance during operation
Assist with site preparation, earthmoving, grading and compaction tasks as directed
Report any equipment faults or safety concerns promptly to site management
Maintain accurate records of work completed and hours worked
Bulk earthworks, trenching, backfilling, final trim and site preparation
Pipe laying, stormwater, sewer and water main installation
What we're looking for
Current and valid Heavy Plant Operator licence or equivalent certification recognised in South Australia
Minimum 3-5 years' proven experience operating civil construction plant and machinery
Strong knowledge of site safety practices and commitment to zero-harm principles
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team on busy construction sites
Sound mechanical knowledge and ability to conduct routine equipment inspections
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain
Reliability and punctuality with a positive attitude towards work
Experience with multiple types of plant machinery is highly desirable
Current First Aid certification is advantageous
