About the role
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Interaction Designer, preferably with a strong learning focus, to design and deliver high-quality, engaging digital learning solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who can combine contemporary digital design with adult learning expertise to support workforce readiness in fast-paced operational environments.
The role requires the ability to convert complex and content-heavy material into concise, easy-to-digest learning artifacts that supports rapid workforce readiness within limited training windows.
Candidates must have an active Baseline clearance.
Key duties and responsibilities
Plans and drives user experience design activities within the team, providing expert advice and guidance to support the adoption of agreed approaches.
Design and develop high-quality digital learning solutions by transforming content-heavy material into engaging, interactive digital artifacts for the best possible user outcome.
Tailor learning to suit multiple roles and levels of responsibility, ensuring clarity, relevance, and accessibility for diverse audiences.
Work collaboratively with L&D; specialists, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with operational needs.
Identify and eliminate redundancy or low-value content to optimise training time and maximise learning impact.
Apply contemporary learning design principles,



user accessibility standards, and modern digital technologies to create efficient, user-centred experiences that support rapid understanding and workforce readiness.
Support knowledge transfer to internal L&D; teams, enabling ongoing maintenance, continuous improvement, and sustainability of learning products.
Selection criteria
Solid capability in user experience analysis and digital content design, with experience in learning or training environments highly regarded.
Proficiency in contemporary tools and technologies such as AI-supported development, video, SCORM, HTML-based animation, JavaScript, and 3D simulation.
Ability to think strategically about content delivery, selecting the right formats and technologies to meet operational needs within tight timeframes.
Proven ability to create content for single-exposure learning, where clarity and impact are critical.
Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
Sound understanding of adult learning principles, with the ability to apply them to real-world, operational training challenges.
Experience designing role targeted or tiered training for different responsibility levels
Demonstrated use of scenario based or decision focused learning, including leadership and safety contexts
Experience supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift for internal teams
