Recruitment Advisor – Technical Services
Fixed-Term, Full-Time | Genuine view to permanency
$95,000 - $109,000 + 12% Super
A growing City does not build and maintain itself.
It takes engineers, designers, project leaders, civil works crews, parks teams and technical specialists and it takes a very good recruiter to find them.
We are looking for an experienced Recruitment Advisor to take ownership of recruitment across our Technical Services Directorate.
This is a genuine 360-degree internal recruitment role.
You will work with hiring managers from the first conversation about what they need, through to sourcing, selection, contracts, variations and welcoming their recent team member to the City.
What you will be stepping into
Technical Services is busy.
You will recruit across a varied portfolio that includes:
Management and leadership positions
Engineering and project delivery
Landscape architecture and design
Civil works
Parks and gardens
Technical and operational roles.
Some positions attract quickly.
Others operate in highly competitive markets and need targeted sourcing, passive candidate engagement and something more thoughtful than simply posting an advertisement.
There is an established portfolio ready for someone who enjoys being busy, organised and close to the action.
What you will do
You will manage recruitment campaigns from beginning to end, including:
Meeting with hiring managers to understand their needs
Providing practical advice on position descriptions and recruitment strategies
Writing advertisements that attract the right people
Selecting the best sourcing approach for each role
Proactively finding and engaging passive candidates
Screening applications and supporting selection panels
Coordinating interviews, references and pre-employment checks
Preparing offers, employment contracts and recruitment-related variations
Maintaining accurate recruitment records and reporting
Ensuring candidates and managers are kept informed throughout the process.
You will be part recruiter, adviser, problem-solver and project manager.
Who we are looking for
You are an experienced recruiter who can own a portfolio rather than simply coordinate one.
You can move comfortably between a specialist engineering search, a management appointment and an operational recruitment campaign.
You will also bring:
Experience managing multiple recruitment campaigns
Confidence sourcing and approaching passive candidates
Strong advertisement writing and candidate engagement skills
The ability to provide practical advice to hiring managers
Strong attention to detail when preparing contracts and employment documentation
A responsive and organised approach
The confidence to raise issues early and keep the process moving.
Experience recruiting within engineering, infrastructure, construction, local government or an operational workforce would be valuable.
Strong recruitment judgement, initiative and the ability to quickly understand the portfolio will matter just as much.
Why Join Us
You will have genuine ownership of a varied recruitment portfolio and the opportunity to recruit the people who design, build and maintain the places our community uses every day.
You will also receive:
Flexible working arrangements
Superannuation contributions of up to 15%
Free parking
Access to wellbeing initiatives and our Employee Assistance Program
Free Gym membership at Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre
Support from an experienced People Services team.
This position is being offered on a fixed-term basis until
31 December ****,
with a genuine view to permanency, subject to ongoing organisational requirements and approval.
Ready to take ownership?
Send us your resume and cover letter telling us about a difficult, technical or high-volume recruitment campaign you have personally managed from beginning to end.
