This FIFO opportunity offers the chance to join a major gold mining operation, providing frontline process control engineering support across a complex processing plant environment.

Working closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of site-wide control systems while driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting operational excellence.

Role Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to support the ongoing operation, maintenance and optimisation of critical automation and control systems at a large-scale mining and processing operation.

Reporting to the Superintendent, this role will provide technical leadership across distributed control systems, PLCs, SCADA platforms, industrial networks and plant historian systems, ensuring assets remain safe, available and fit for purpose.

You will play a key role in troubleshooting complex control issues, supporting root cause investigations, managing system modifications, executing improvement projects and partnering with operational stakeholders to maximise plant performance and reliability.

This position is offered on an 8:6 roster to Western Australia's Pilbara region.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Experience within mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial environments




- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Process Engineering
- Strong experience supporting industrial process control systems
- Proven experience with Yokogawa Centum VP DCS platforms
- Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix, CompactLogix and MicroLogix PLCs
- Experience with FactoryTalk View and/or GE iFIX SCADA systems
- Strong understanding of industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, DeviceNet and ControlNet
- Experience administering PI Historian environments
- Knowledge of Active Directory and industrial network infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability
- Experience working within change management processes and procedures
- Advanced Microsoft Office and SAP skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Current Australian working rights

Desirable Experience

- Gold processing plant experience
- Control system lifecycle management experience
- Exposure to cybersecurity principles within OT environments
- Experience managing minor capital or improvement projects
- Functional safety and safety system experience
- Industrial network administration experience including Cisco platforms
- Experience coaching and mentoring technical personnel
- Asset management and reliability engineering exposure
- Knowledge of Australian Standards relating to industrial control systems

- Provide frontline control systems engineering support across plant operations
- Maintain the safe, reliable and efficient operation of site automation systems




- Execute preventative maintenance activities across DCS, PLC and SCADA platforms
- Support root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions
- Manage system modifications in accordance with change management procedures
- Maintain control system integrity, cybersecurity and compliance standards
- Conduct system audits, software patching and routine health checks
- Monitor and improve process control performance across operational areas
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to operations and maintenance personnel
- Support reliability improvement initiatives and asset management strategies
- Develop cost-effective engineering solutions aligned with industry best practice
- Lead or support minor capital and continuous improvement projects
- Collaborate with maintenance, metallurgy and operations teams to achieve production objectives
- Support site call-out requirements for critical control system issues
- Contribute to planning, budgeting and scheduling activities
- Participate in safety initiatives, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with site standards, procedures and legislative requirements
