Fuse Recruitment is working with an established civil infrastructure contractor looking to add an experienced Excavator Operator to their permanent team.
The business specialises in water infrastructure and pipeline construction, with a strong pipeline of work across new water main installations and civil projects.
This isn't a general bulk earthworks role. We're looking for an operator who can confidently trench mains, work around existing services and operate larger excavators safely and productively.
The Role
- Operating 20t–40t excavators
- Trenching for water mains and pipelines
- Trenching accurately to levels without relying on GPS
- Working around existing live services and maintaining required clearances
- Reading plans and understanding excavation depths and service locations
- Operating excavator hammers for rock breaking and deep trenching
- Working closely with pipelayers, labourers and the wider civil crew
- Maintaining high safety and production standards on site
What We're Looking For
- Multiple years' experience operating 20t+ excavators
- Strong experience in civil construction, utilities, pipelines or water infrastructure
- Demonstrated trenching experience
- Confident hammering rock on larger excavators
- Experience excavating around existing/live services
- Ability to read plans and trench accurately to required levels
- Current White Card
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport to site
- Reliable, safety-conscious and looking for a long-term position
Water main, sewer, drainage, pipeline or other utility infrastructure experience will be highly regarded. Candidates with strong trenching experience around existing services on larger excavators are particularly well suited to the role.
What's On Offer
- $50–$55 per hour + super, depending on experience
- Overtime available with approximately 9.5-hour working days
