We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Feasibility Engineer to join us in our Engineering & Technical Solutions team in Brisbane, QLD on a 12 Month Max Term Contract.
Reporting to the Head of Emissions & Long-Term Optimisation, you will play a key role in assessing and developing emissions reduction project opportunities, supporting delivery of strategic decarbonisation initiatives, and embedding sustainable practices across our asset base.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed feasibility analysis and modelling to assess and validate emissions reduction opportunities across gas pipeline and storage assets.
- Develop concept designs, project scopes and options assessments to evaluate technical and commercial solutions.
- Undertake financial modelling, CAPEX/OPEX estimation, scenario analysis and risk assessments to support investment and project decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, operations, vendors and consultants to develop and implement emissions-reduction initiatives.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies to maximise emissions reduction and minimise program cost.
- Monitor the performance of implemented solutions and provide ongoing technical guidance to support successful operational outcomes.
Your background
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering (or similar)
- Experience in feasibility engineering, options analysis or concept development, ideally within gas transmission, energy or other infrastructure environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exposure to financial modelling, CAPEX/OPEX estimation and scenario analysis.
- An understanding of energy infrastructure and operational environments, with experience or knowledge of project development and stage-gate processes.
- An interest in emissions reduction, decarbonisation and optimisation,
with the ability to assess technical and commercial opportunities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders and clearly communicate technical information.
About the Team
The Emissions and Long-Term Optimisation (ELTO) team are responsible for the management and delivery of the Operations emissions reduction roadmap, underpinned by the board endorsed APA climate transition plan. The team consists of a small, multi-disciplinary group of highly experienced senior engineers who support the ideation, development and portfolio governance of emissions reduction projects as well as coordination and management of APA’s enhanced methane measurement and leak repair programs. Collaborating extensively with stakeholders across the business the ELTO team are pivotal in delivering upon APA’s purpose of responsible energy.
This is an exciting time for the team as we progress towards delivering upon our 2030 emissions reduction targets. We need people who are courageous, nimble and impactful to help shape our future to 2030 and beyond.
