Founded in 1975, Gorski Engineering is a proudly Australian, family-owned manufacturer recognised for premium tipper bodies, in-house engineering, VASS certification and PBS compliance.
The successful appointee will support dependable workshop outcomes while contributing to the company’s longstanding focus on craftsmanship, innovation, durability, performance and customer satisfaction. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines, trucks and trailer systems.
- Repair and overhaul diesel engines using manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubrication, oil changes and engine tune-ups.
- Inspect, repair and replace suspension, steering, braking and under-chassis components.
- Install and service trailer air systems, tanks, valves, gauges and airbags.
- Fit and test electronic control units and electrical systems on new trailers.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems used across truck, trailer and tipper applications.
- Dismantle engine assemblies, transmissions and mechanical components to assess wear and damage.
- Reassemble repaired engines and components, ensuring correct alignment, adjustment and operation.
- Use computer-assisted diagnostic equipment to identify faults and verify completed repairs.
- Test repaired vehicles and mechanical systems for safe, reliable and compliant performance.
- Complete welding and mechanical fitting tasks associated with trucks and heavy trailers.
- Respond to workshop breakdowns and undertake timely fault-finding and corrective repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records and follow workplace safety and environmental procedures.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Hold an AQF Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology or an equivalent recognised heavy vehicle qualification.
- Demonstrate at least two years’ recent hands-on experience in a truck, trailer, heavy vehicle or comparable engineering workshop.
- Demonstrate substantial experience diagnosing, repairing and overhauling diesel engines in trucks, trailers or heavy equipment.
- Possess strong practical knowledge of truck braking, suspension, steering, hydraulic, electrical and under-chassis systems.
- Apply computer-assisted diagnostic equipment and systematic fault-finding methods to accurately identify mechanical and electrical problems.
- Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing procedures to support vehicle reliability, safety and emissions compliance.
- Read and apply service manuals, technical specifications and workshop procedures when repairing and reassembling components.
- Demonstrate welding, mechanical fitting and trailer system installation capabilities within a heavy vehicle workshop environment.
- Maintain secure working practices, accurate service records and a dependable approach to workshop quality standards.
