Campus Support Officer – Student Safety & Wellbeing
Zetland > Sydney
Full-Time & Part-Time | Day Shifts | FT 7:30am–3:30pm & PT 1:30pm–6:30pm
CONSTANT is currently recruiting Campus Support Officers to support one of our clients within the higher education sector.
This is a unique, engagement-led and student-focused role combining campus safety, wellbeing, customer service and community support.
As a Campus Support Officer, you'll be a visible, approachable and trusted presence on campus and within student accommodation areas. Students will come to know you as someone they can approach for information, day-to-day assistance, or when something isn't quite right.
While a current NSW Security Licence is essential, this is not a traditional static security role. The focus is on people, engagement, prevention and support, with security capability forming an important part of the overall role.
About the Role
As a Campus Support Officer, you will help create a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for students and staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintaining a visible and approachable presence across campus and accommodation areas.
Proactively engaging with students and building positive, respectful relationships.
Providing general information, wayfinding and day-to-day assistance to students.
Supporting students who may be distressed, unwell or experiencing difficulty.
Providing a calm, non-judgemental and trauma-informed first response when students require assistance.
Responding appropriately to disclosures or concerns relating to safety, wellbeing or harm.
Connecting students with the appropriate wellbeing, counselling, specialist or external support services.
Responding to incidents and emergencies within the scope of your training and escalating appropriately.
Working closely with campus management and relevant support services.
Conducting routine patrols and maintaining a safe and respectful campus workplace.
Providing discreet security and safety support when required.
Completing accurate incident, welfare and shift documentation.
Ensuring information is handled with dignity, discretion and on a need-to-know basis.
Providing clear handovers and escalating concerns to campus management or emergency services when required.
A People-First Approach
The Campus Support Officer is often the first person a student may approach when they need help.
You will be expected to listen, remain calm and respond appropriately, while understanding that your role is a pathway to support, not the destination.
Where a student raises a safety, welfare or wellbeing concern, you'll help connect them with the appropriate specialist service or authority. This may include campus management, wellbeing and counselling services, emergency services or other relevant support pathways.
The role requires strong judgement, discretion and an understanding that sensitive information must be handled appropriately and escalated when required.
