Registered Nurse – Clinical Lead (Disability and Aged Care)

The Registered Nurse – Clinical Manager in our organisation is responsible for overseeing the clinical care and management of clients to ensure that services meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role involves leading a team of healthcare workers, coordinating care across multiple service settings, and ensuring that clinical practices align with NDIS and Aged Care standards. The Clinical Manager will drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure that all care provided supports clients’ well‑being, independence, and dignity.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Management

Lead and manage the nursing and care teams, providing clinical oversight, mentorship, and support.

Ensure the delivery of individualised, person-centred care in line with NDIS and Aged Care quality standards.

Oversee the development, implementation, and review of care plans tailored to the unique needs of each client.

Manage organisation resources effectively, meeting all accountability and reporting requirements.

Actively participate as a key member of the management team, contributing to strategic decision‑making.

Respond to emergencies according to organisational policies and procedures, as well as sector regulations.

2. Clinical Services

Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure compliance with sector standards and regulations for nursing.

Act as a supervisor, providing clinical guidance and advice to healthcare and nursing staff within the organisation.

Deliver safe and effective assessment and primary healthcare services.

Undertake projects aimed at improving clinical services and promoting healthy, professional relationships regarding clinical operations across the organisation.

3. Quality and Compliance

Ensure full compliance with NDIS and Aged Care standards, including adherence to relevant legislation, guidelines, and policies.





Lead quality improvement initiatives, including conducting internal audits (in consultation with the Director and/or Operations Manager), managing risk assessments, incidents, feedback, and complaints.

Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe, effective, and high‑quality care.

Record incidents in compliance with mandatory reporting requirements and ensure all training, employment requirements, and qualifications remain up to date.

4. Staff Training and Development

Facilitate access to appropriate training for employees to help them achieve their maximum potential.

Coordinate and evaluate training programs within the facility, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.

Conduct regular performance appraisals, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional growth.

5. Client Care Coordination

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care across various settings, including residential, community, and in‑home care.

Act as a clinical resource and decision‑making point for complex cases, providing expert guidance and support.

Facilitate and attend meetings with clients, families, care teams, and community stakeholders as needed.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and client records across various management systems.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

In collaboration with the General Manager, establish and maintain relationships with local networks—such as hospital discharge planners, social workers, Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres, support groups, healthcare professionals, and government agencies—to promote the organisation, communicate available services and vacancies,



and stay informed on emerging industry issues.

Represent the organisation in clinical forums, committees, and qualified networks within the NDIS and Aged Care sectors.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

Registered Nurse with current, unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).

Postgraduate qualifications and/or relevant experience in the Disability and Aged Care sectors will be favourably considered.

Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) & Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009).

Current National Police Check.

Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Current Aged Care Sector Employment Check.

Current Full Driver’s Licence.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 12 months in a leadership or management role (preferably within the NDIS or Aged Care sectors).

Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, clinical governance, and regulatory compliance within the NDIS and Aged Care frameworks.

Skills:

Demonstrated skills and experience in senior‑level clinical nursing practice.

Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

In‑depth knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Practice Standards.

Strong knowledge of local medical and social support services, with the ability to navigate them effectively.

Thorough understanding of Health Assessments, Care Arrangements, and GP Management Plans.

Knowledge of chronic disease self‑management and behaviour change strategies.

Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures.

Strong organisational, problem‑solving, and multi‑tasking abilities.

Ability to work collaboratively within a care team during complex situations.

Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and effectively prioritise workloads.

High‑level administrative competence and strong computer skills.
