Multiple PhD Opportunities in Mechanics of Battery Materials

The University of Sydney | School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

We are seeking highly motivated PhD candidates to join an exciting research program at the intersection of mechanics, materials science, and energy storage technologies . This project will investigate the mechanical behaviour and degradation mechanisms of advanced battery materials, combining experimental and computational approaches to understand the underlying physics and improve the reliability of next-generation energy storage systems.

Desired Candidate Qualities

We welcome applications from students with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

- Experience in one or many of the following is desired : mechanical testing and characterisation,



electron and optical microscopy, computational mechanics, and battery materials or electrochemical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, initiative, and an enthusiasm for impactful, high-quality research are required qualities .

This call is open to both international and domestic students , and students from under-represented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We specifically welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates.
