About the Role

An opportunity exists for a Grade 2 physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department. The successful applicant will provide high quality physiotherapy management to patients admitted within units serviced by the cardiorespiratory team at Fitzroy campus of St. Vincent’s Hospital. The role includes supervision of students, Grade 1 staff, and Allied Health Assistants, and a leadership role within the department and other duties as directed/delegated. Applications from current grade two physiotherapists or suitably experienced grade one physiotherapists will be considered. Relevant postgraduate qualifications would be highly regarded. Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.

Responsibilities

- Provide clinical management for patients admitted under units serviced by the cardiorespiratory team (ICU/HDU, ED, general medicine, surgical, cardiothoracic, respiratory, special medicine).
- Assessment, planning and treatment including education for all patients admitted under these units.
- Communicate assessment and treatment outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via documentation and handovers.
- Clinical supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, as required.
- Develop and promote new initiatives regarding service provision.
- Provide training for Grade 1 physiotherapists to work on the weekend service.

Qualifications and Experience

- Recent experience in and knowledge of physiotherapy management in an acute health care setting,



particularly cardiorespiratory management.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Experience with student supervision.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Current or eligible for National Physiotherapist Registration.
- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the role would be highly regarded.
