This position enforces Illinois state laws and Boone County ordinances pertaining to animal control and animal welfare. This person will be responsible for a variety of tasks including receiving and responding to public complaints, investigations, issuance of citations, patrolling assigned areas to capture stray animals, cleaning and maintaining kennel areas, and feeding and caring for animals. This position does include some weekends, holidays, and assigned after hours on call.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting wage is $18.00-$20.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. The County participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and offers a generous benefits package, including:

Eligibility
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED. Experience in an animal related field or law enforcement is preferred. Residency in Boone County is not required, but preferred. Applicants should live within 20 minutes of the shelter.
