Your new role

As the Senior Renewable Energy Engineer, you will be a senior member of the engineering team reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. You will play a critical role in advancing utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects through development and toward FID. This is a highly autonomous position suited to someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial awareness. You will take ownership of complex engineering workstreams, manage interface risks across hybrid renewable energy projects, and provide technical leadership on key strategic initiatives including supplier negotiations, performance guarantees and major market tenders. Working closely with development, grid, commercial and project delivery teams, you will influence critical project decisions and help shape the future direction of a growing renewable energy portfolio.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead engineering workstreams for utility-scale solar and solar-plus-storage projects through development and pre-construction phases
- Take ownership of one of the organisation's most advanced solar and BESS developments, driving technical activities through to FID
- Lead warranty, performance guarantee and technical commercial negotiations with equipment suppliers and contractors
- Manage specialist consultants, contractors and technical advisors across multiple development projects
- Oversee resource assessments, energy yield studies, technical due diligence activities and owner's engineering reviews
- Support project acquisitions, due diligence processes and broader portfolio development activities
- Contribute to construction readiness, contractor management, quality assurance and owner's engineer activities as projects progress into delivery

What you'll need to succeed

- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 6 + years experience in utility-scale solar, BESS or hybrid renewable energy
- Robust understanding of solar farm design, battery energy storage systems and grid-connected renewable energy projects
- Experience managing complex technical and commercial risks on large-scale renewable energy developments
- Understanding of electrical balance of plant design, plant performance and grid integration requirements
- Experience leading technical negotiations with OEMs, EPC contractors and equipment suppliers
