We're not looking for a Head Chef to simply keep the kitchen running—we're looking for a leader who can build a high-performing team, drive commercial results, and help shape the future of one of North Queensland's premier hospitality venues.

Located on the stunning Airlie Beach waterfront, the Whitsunday Sailing Club is a thriving community club with a busy restaurant, premium functions, and a packed calendar of major events. From the Airlie Beach Festival of Music, large weddings, trade expos and corporate functions to internationally recognised sailing regattas including Airlie Beach Race Week, no two weeks are the same.

The Role

As Head Chef, you'll have full responsibility for leading all kitchen operations across our restaurant, functions and major events. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll be expected to lead from the front during service while developing the systems, people and processes that will support our continued growth.

What You'll Be Responsible For

- Leading, mentoring and developing a passionate kitchen team
- Managing food costs, labour, wastage and other key financial KPIs
- Developing seasonal menus that balance creativity, consistency and profitability




- Building efficient kitchen systems that support high-volume service
- Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness and workplace safety
- Working closely with senior management to support the Club's strategic growth

What We're Looking For

- Previous experience as a Head Chef, or an accomplished Sous Chef ready to step into your first Head Chef role
- Strong commercial understanding with proven success managing food costs and labour
- Experience leading high-volume kitchens, functions and events
- A genuine leader who develops people and creates a positive team culture
- Calm under pressure with exceptional organisational skills
- Passion for delivering consistently outstanding food and guest experiences
