Overview

Senior Legal Counsel, Asia Pacific & Latin America – Full‑time, based in Sydney Office. The role provides strategic commercial legal advice across the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, partnering closely with business leaders to support Cochlear’s strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

- Lead complex commercial, compliance and contractual matters with real impact.
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Develop and support compliance policies, procedures and training programs.
- Negotiate, draft and review a broad range of commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage contractual disputes, complaints, investigations and litigation matters.
- Contribute to global legal initiatives, policy development and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Laws degree.
- Admission as a lawyer in Australia.
- Minimum 8‑12 years post‑qualification experience, working at a top‑tier law firm and/or in an ASX‑listed corporate environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical, solutions‑focused legal advice.




- Demonstrated experience negotiating, drafting and advising on complex commercial contracts.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and judgment capabilities.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality, adaptability and skilled resilience.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team.
- Experience supporting businesses across the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions (ideal).
- Experience in a multi‑jurisdictional legal role within the medical device or healthcare industry (ideal).
- Experience advising on compliance, privacy and corporate governance matters (ideal).
- Fluency in Mandarin, Korean or Japanese (ideal).
- Experience managing cross‑border disputes, investigations and regulatory matters (ideal).
