Oat House is currently looking for a Cook to join its kitchen team. This indicates an immediate staffing requirement and an opportunity to support the business with suitable hospitality candidates.

Salary: $78,000 - $83,000 AUD
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes according to Oat House’s menu and recipes.
- Support breakfast, lunch, and evening service as required.
- Execute modern Australian and Mediterranean-inspired dishes with consistent quality and presentation.
- Complete food preparation, mise en place, and kitchen setup before service.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and food safety.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods and manage multiple orders.
- Monitor food stock and communicate ingredient shortages to the kitchen team.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organised,
and safe kitchen and work environment.
- Follow portion-control, preparation, and waste-management procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff.
- Adapt to seasonal menu changes and new dishes.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture.
Skills and Experience Needed:
- 2–3 years of relevant commercial kitchen experience, preferably in a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment.
- Experience preparing breakfast, lunch, and contemporary café dishes.
- Robust food preparation and mise en place skills.
- Ability to consistently deliver dishes with good quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Positive understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen during busy service periods.
- Robust time-management and organisational skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions while maintaining consistency.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Chef and kitchen team.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and Friday/Saturday evening service as required.
- A positive, reliable, and professional attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
- Passion for quality food and hospitality.
- Relevant food safety or hospitality qualifications would be an advantage.
