Primary Health Manager at First Peoples' Health and Wellbeing

The Primary Health Manager will act as the role model, point of contact and be responsible for overseeing the management and operations of First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing Frankston clinic. You will ensure high standards of client care, appropriate risk management and documentation are upheld whilst maintaining strong community relationships. This hands‑on role requires an understanding of the health care system including government funding, Medicare funding and strong report writing skills. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day and performance management of all Frankston team members with the support of the Director of Primary Health, Medical Director and Director Corporate Services. This role currently reports to the Director of Primary Health and you will play a key role within the Senior Leadership Team. You will work closely with the other Site Manager – Baluk Balert Barring (Early Parenting Centre) as well as the Social Emotional and Wellbeing Manager and Community Aged Care Manager.
Responsibilities
- A good understanding of the Aboriginal communities First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing services.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a management role.
- Tertiary qualification in health, social science or management related discipline or a strong background in practice management.
- Solid understanding of the health system including Medicare.
- Ability to interact in a friendly and respectful way with clients and staff at all levels to achieve goals and outcomes.
- Well‑developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, creating positive client, family, carer and staff relationships.
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and safety, ensuring this is maintained within the clinic.
- Knowledge of and willingness to respond to the needs of clients with complex or special needs, managing feedback in a timely manner.
- Excellent administration skills including flexibility, organisational and prioritisation.
- High level computer knowledge and skills.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience in the AGPAL Accreditation Process.
- Experience using Medical Software such as Best Practice.
- First aid, CPR or other related certificates.
