Our corporate and commercial practice is growing and we are seeking an exceptional Special Counsel to join an established, high-performing team. The work is high-profile, energetic and engaging.

This is a senior role for a technically outstanding lawyer who is client-focused, commercially astute and deeply skilled across a corporate and commercial portfolio spanning both transactional and contentious work, advising clients who expect the highest standard of legal counsel.

You will:

- Take senior ownership of client relationships across a broad corporate, commercial and franchising portfolio spanning both transactional and contentious work
- Advise clients across the full spectrum of corporate and commercial matters including commercial contracts, M&A;, business sales and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, shareholder arrangements, terms and conditions of trade, insolvency and corporate recovery
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements across a wide range of transactions, providing practical and commercially grounded advice that balances legal compliance with business reality
- Manage commercial and contractual disputes, franchise disputes, property and leasing disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes, payment disputes, drawing on BlackBay's broader disputes capability where matters escalate




- Provide general corporate and commercial advisory work across a diverse client base spanning private enterprises, large corporations and individual business owners
- Support, guide and provide day-to-day supervision of junior lawyers within the team, reviewing their work, sharing practical knowledge and helping them develop sound judgment and strong client habits
- Contribute to business development, supporting the growth of the corporate commercial practice

Who This Role Is Designed For

- A Special Counsel or Senior Associate ready to step up, with approximately 8+ years PQE
- Technically excellent and detail-oriented, known for the precision and practicality of your advice
- Committed to understanding your client's business inside and out and delivering advice that reflects commercial reality
- Proactive by nature, someone who identifies issues early, communicates clearly and keeps clients informed at every stage
- A collaborative practitioner who is energised by working within a high-performing team
