The Melbourne Clinic in Richmond is seeking an unaccredited Psychiatry Registrar to join our Adult Psychiatric Unit for a 6‑month rotation (August 2026 – February 2027). This is a full‑time, 1.0 FTE position with both in‑hours and weekend on‑call duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Availability for both in‑hours and weekend on‑call duties.
- Provide direct patient care in the inpatient adult psychiatric unit under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist.
- Assess and treat a wide range of high‑prevalence psychiatric conditions (e.g., eating disorders, addiction medicine, old age psychiatry, OCD, CPTSD, ADHD, ASD).
- Work extensively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, psychologists, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians and allied health staff.
- Run group therapy programmes (e.g., medical education group).
- Be exposed to and support treatments such as ECT, RTMS and esketamine.
Qualifications
- General registration with AHPRA.
- Strong interest in psychiatry with a desire to apply for formal Psychiatry Training.
- Ideally at least 3 months of experience working in a mental health setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary hospital team.
- Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills, including completion of ward round paperwork and discharge summaries/letters.
- Genuine desire to make a difference to those suffering a mental illness and to collaborate with families/carers and community teams.
