Senior Resident Medical Officer

Department: Senior Resident Medical Officer

Location: Tweed Valley Hospital

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Resident Medical Officer, working in a supportive, structured teaching environment. The role consists of one term each of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care, and two terms of Emergency Medicine. You will be part of a collegiate team of consultants and registrars in all three disciplines working across a 7‑day roster. You will have access to weekly education sessions and mentorship from consultants. These positions offer a real chance to expand your skills and gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.

Information for International Medical Graduates

Responsibilities

Primary purpose is to provide clinical care under appropriate supervision to patients requiring emergency, intensive care, anaesthetic or medical services. Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the trainee’s skills, knowledge and experience.



All patients managed within the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. The position supports prerequisites for future training with relevant colleges.

Qualifications and Experience

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the essential requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self‑education, training and development opportunities in critical care.
