We are seeking a Senior Software or Systems Engineer to join a growing Defence technology team delivering mission-critical C4I and communications solutions.

This role is ideal for an engineer who combines strong software development expertise with broader systems engineering capability. You will contribute to solution design, technical documentation, customer engagement and integration activities while working across complex Defence environments.

As a smaller, highly collaborative organisation, we are looking for someone who can operate beyond pure software engineering, engage directly with customers, and understand how software integrates with wider systems including networks, communications infrastructure and radio technologies.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop software solutions supporting Defence and C4I capabilities
- Produce high-level design documentation, technical artefacts and engineering deliverables
- Participate in systems engineering and integration activities
- Engage directly with Defence customers and stakeholders to understand operational requirements
- Support technical workshops, demonstrations and solution discussions
- Contribute to the design and integration of software within larger communications and networked environments
- Collaborate with engineers, project teams and Defence stakeholders




- Support testing, validation and capability enhancements
- Attend Defence sites including Gallipoli Barracks and other customer locations as required

Skills & Experience

- Degree qualified in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
- Strong background in software engineering, software development or technical solution delivery
- Experience developing high-level design documentation and technical artefacts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to engage confidently with customers and end users
- Understanding of software integration within broader systems environments

Highly Desirable

- Defence experience
- Knowledge of C4I systems
- Network and communications systems knowledge
- Radio communications experience
- Systems integration experience
- Exposure to Defence architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, DODAF or AUSDAF
- Current NV1 Security Clearance
