Senior Medical Officer – General Practice

A Northern QLD hospital requires a Senior Medical Officer in General Practice from ASAP to 02/08/2026. SMO with FRACGP/FACCRM and ED Experience, preferably with advanced Obstetrics or Anaesthetics.

- Approximately 88 km south of Cairns. About 8,000 people live in this multicultural town which offers easy access to World Heritage rainforest wilderness in the Woonooroonan National Park and boat access to Family Islands and Hinchinbrook National Parks. The Outstanding Barrier Reef is 40 km offshore from Mourilyan deep water harbour. Mission Beach is 50 km away offering a beachside lifestyle.
- This is a 49-bed acute care hospital including 3 high dependency beds staffed by rural generalists.



The hospital had a major rebuild and renovation just prior to 2000. The Friends of the Hospital Foundation have generously supported acquisition of state-of-the-art resuscitation and critical care equipment for the Emergency Room, High Dependency Unit and Operating Theatre.
