Principal Data Consultant at Talent Insights - dbt | Databricks | Looker | Snowflake
Location: Sydney (Hybrid)
Duration: 6–12 months
Day Rate: $750-900 a day inc super
Our enterprise client is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join their high-performing Data & Analytics team on an initial 6–12 month contract . The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming raw data into trusted, scalable models that drive insight and enable better business decisions across the organisation.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics - ideal for someone who enjoys building robust data pipelines, designing efficient transformation layers, and collaborating closely with business stakeholders to deliver value through data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise data models and pipelines using dbt and SQL .
- Work within a BigQuery workplace to design and implement scalable data warehousing solutions.
- Manage orchestration and workflow scheduling with Airflow .
- Write clean, efficient Python scripts for automation and data transformation.
- Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and business teams to ensure data reliability and accessibility.
- Apply software engineering best practices — version control, testing,
and documentation — across all development.
About You
- 4+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer or Data Engineer in a modern cloud environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery , dbt , SQL , and Airflow (or similar orchestration tools).
- Competent in Python for scripting and workflow automation.
- Proven track record delivering scalable, production-grade data models and pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working within cross-functional teams.
