Job Description
Our client, Tech Envision, is a technology solutions provider headquartered in Albury, New South Wales, specialising in telecommunications, networking, information technology (IT) infrastructure, and digital technology services. The company delivers end-to-end solutions, including network design, telecommunications system deployment, infrastructure implementation, technical support, and ongoing maintenance for business clients. Tech Envision is seeking a Telecommunications Field Engineer to service Warrnambool and surrounding areas in Victoria.
In this role, you will install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and support telecommunications and network infrastructure at customer sites. You will deliver field engineering services, ensure reliable network performance, resolve technical issues, and provide high-quality customer support while complying with industry standards and workplace health and safety requirements. The annual salary for this position is $75,000 to $85,000.
Duties include:
- Conduct site surveys to assess customer requirements, network infrastructure, equipment locations, and installation feasibility for telecommunications projects.
- Install, configure, commission, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, wireless devices, fibre optic systems, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions, and network hardware to meet technical specifications.
- Perform fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on telecommunications networks and associated equipment to ensure continuous service availability.
- Monitor network performance using diagnostic tools and protocol analysers, identifying faults and implementing technical solutions to optimise system reliability and efficiency.
- Fusion splicing fibre drop cables, OTDR/VFL testing, copper pair identification, and line quality testing (attenuation, noise margin).
- Conduct fibre optic cable testing, splicing verification, signal measurements, and certification using specialised test equipment to ensure network integrity and performance.
- Prepare technical documentation, including installation reports, network diagrams, test results, maintenance records, and equipment configuration details for project completion and compliance purposes.
- Provide onsite technical support and troubleshooting for customers, resolving hardware, software, connectivity, and telecommunications service issues within agreed service levels.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Network Engineers, vendors, and customers during installation, commissioning, upgrades, and maintenance activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure all telecommunications installations and field activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements, telecommunications regulations, and company quality standards.
- Perform system upgrades, firmware updates, equipment replacements, and network expansion activities with minimal disruption to customer operations.
- Assist in evaluating recent telecommunications technologies, conducting field testing and performance validation, and recommending improvements to enhance network capability, reliability, and customer service outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience.
- Should hold an advanced Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field.
