The Unity Hall Hotel is a heritage pub at the heart of Balmain, established in 1875 and relaunched for its 150th anniversary. Three experiences under one roof. The Main Bar — sport, racing, live music Friday and Saturday, and the coldest beer in Balmain.

With steady patronage and a robust reputation in the local community, the kitchen team works together to deliver consistent meals and efficient service across lunch, dinner, and busy weekend periods.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of menu items while ensuring the kitchen maintains high standards of quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role suits a chef who enjoys working in a busy hospitality environment and takes pride in producing well-presented meals.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook dishes according to the venue’s established menu and standards.
- Ensure meals are presented consistently and delivered efficiently during service.
- Assist with planning daily specials and menu development when required.
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene,



and kitchen cleanliness.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.
- Follow portion control and minimise food wastage.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and organised kitchen environment.

What We Are Looking For

- Relevant qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent kitchen experience.
- Previous experience working in a hotel, pub, or restaurant kitchen.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment.
- Good understanding of food safety standards and kitchen procedures.
- A positive and reliable team member with a passion for hospitality.

Starting salary: $76K - $86K plus super.
