Start a hands-on trade career with a dynamic, competency-based apprenticeship in Fitting and Turning. Under the guidance of experienced tradespersons, you will develop practical skills through a combination of formal study and real-world, on-the-job learning in a professional workshop environment.
As part of this role, you will help maintain Council's mechanical and water/wastewater assets to a high standard, gaining valuable experience in the repair, replacement, installation, design and manufacture of plant and equipment that keeps essential services running.
With ongoing support and mentoring from qualified, highly experienced team members, you will complete a Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade), building strong technical capability in Fitting and Turning and laying the groundwork for a long‑term mechanical trade career.

About the Candidate
Willingness to be part of, and promote, a positive safety culture whilst adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Minimum completed of Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics. Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers' licence (or ability to obtain). Sound written and verbal communication skills. Sound computer skills. Ability to work effectively and be positively involved within a team setting. Complete all training and assessment requirements of a Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) as per the provided training plan. This includes attending and participating in structured formal learning at the nominated Registered Training Organisation (RTO) as well as keeping an accurate and up to date training record book.
